Roadway/Location Surveys
Bowyer-Singleton has performed design survey and mapping on more than 500 miles of roadways throughout the state. Our team is experienced in the survey and location of improvements and subsurface utilities contained within county, state, or private roadways. We maintain a solid understanding of what the design team needs to accomplish project engineering. Bowyer-Singleton currently provides design survey, utility survey, wetland jurisdictional and geotechnical survey support for more than 25 FDOT-approved design consultants. Design deliverables containing digital terrain models and contouring are part of our standard deliverables which we produce in Microstation/Geopak or AutoCAD LDD8, whichever the client prefers.
Topographic and Tree Surveys
At Bowyer-Singleton, we pride ourselves on the fast and accurate collection of topographic data. We have prepared topographic surveys on thousands of acres and maintain the technology to obtain topographic data efficiently and quickly. Our fleet contains 11 full sets of GPS equipment accompanied by the latest in all terrain vehicles to access the harshest of conditions. Whether the task at hand is an existing wastewater treatment facility or a vacant piece of land slated for new facilities, our group is trained to identify grade breaks, drainage areas, and physical improvements and to identify these features accurately within the design file. Many times tree surveys are included within the topographic parameters, and we are capable of performing tree surveys, identifying size, type, and particular species when needed.
Bowyer-Singleton also maintains registered landscape architects on staff to support any tree survey efforts that may be necessary.
GPS Control Surveys
Bowyer-Singleton has extensive experience with GPS technology and GIS database formulation and maintenance. Our GPS equipment is the latest in Leica technology and is capable of running 11 independent and static missions simultaneously. Our expert team of GPS personnel can assist the county with GPS control networks, vertical control, utility inventory, primary network control for individual projects, or multiple RTK efforts coordinated and completed simultaneously. Our superior resources allow us to apply 10 to 15 crews to a control project in order to meet the demands of a project schedule. Bowyer-Singleton has a system in place to set permanent monumentation, provide accurate referencing and location, as well as database mapping and maintenance, if applicable, Geodetic Control Committee and Geospatial Positional Accuracy Standards. Bowyer-Singleton’s GIS Group can assist with inventory and mapping to any control networks to be integrated into the county’s GIS System.
Right-of-Way Mapping
Bowyer-Singleton has a designated professional staff trained in the preparation of survey mapping. These efforts include right-of-way control maps, right-of-way maps, maintenance mapping and specific purpose mapping. We have performed all of the required mapping at the municipal, county, and state (FDOT) levels and understand the difference in deliverables accepted at each level. Bowyer-Singleton has worked in many mapping projects within Volusia County, including several maintenance maps that include identification of parcel boundaries, coordination of maintenance limits with county staff, field survey and mapping. We have been successful at assisting many agencies with the mapping and recordation of roadways accepted for public use.
Legal Descriptions and Survey Sketches
Bowyer-Singleton is well versed in preparing all types of legal descriptions, including sectional, metes and bounds, strip and linear. When preparing legal descriptions, all controlling monument calls are inserted within the legal description for clarity. When necessary, a sketch is provided with each legal description. Our team has prepared thousands of sketches and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition, eminent domain proceedings, as well as easements for utilities, access, or conservation. Our abundant resources allow our mapping team to accurately prepare in excess of 50 sketches and legal descriptions per week.
